Disruption, stillness and showing up anyway

It hit me yesterday at noon, just as I hit “Start Meeting” on Zoom for session four of New Perspectives. I had barely caught my breath that morning. A personal situation tugging at my thoughts, a string of professional demands stacking up… And yet, here I was, welcoming others into a space I had created, not in spite of the chaos, but because of it.
A dozen people are now in our New Perspectives community - and we only started 4 weeks ago. Busy, brilliant humans and I remembered: this is exactly what I need too.
The theme was Disruption. Not the kind you choose, but the kind that arrives without warning and turns your life inside out.
My first instinct? “Stay strong. Hold the container.”
But the magic of New Perspectives isn’t in having the answers. It’s in making space for what’s real, because that's where the work of awareness begins. When we can find ourselves again, in the suffering and life’s challenges.
✨ One participant bravely shared their story, of a change they didn’t ask for. And as we listened, something softened in the group.
We didn’t fix it.
We didn’t rush.
We simply held it together, with quiet, generous attention.
Disruption shakes the ground beneath us and still, we can find steadiness.
The nervous system reacts, but the heart can remain open.
If you only respond with solutions, you miss the invitation to be with the person, not just the problem.
So instead of pushing forward, I slowed down. We asked different questions. We reflected. We witnessed. And in doing so, we remembered we are not alone in navigating change.
💔 If you only wait to show up when life is calm, you risk missing the power of connection when it matters most.
➡️ New Perspectives runs every Wednesday at 12 noon, a quiet space for busy people to reflect, reset, and grow together. A mid-week break: 40 minutes of calm reflection and learning, free for now. Each session is alone standing, so you're welcome to any of them, without commitment.
✨ New Perspectives offers a thinking space for busy people.
Next week, we'll be exploring 'Resilience' - how can we grow our resilience, bounce back more quickly, and what if we end up not feeling resilient at all?
Don't miss it. All you have to do is register. I look forward to seeing you there.
